I had posted what kind of camera you shoot with but that is a childish question. What I am now asking is this: What do you shoot what is your most passionate subject? Why do you shoot it what is it about that subject that draws you into it?

I tend to shoot life as the way I see it, or ways no one ever will see it. Im about conveying a personal perspective, and having people see things out ward. I mainly enjoy taking other people, and shooting them how I see them. Put the in outfits and surrounding them with things that I believe fit there personality.

Mostly nature photos but occasionally just really cool things like the great wall of China or really tiny cars in France. It is difficult if not impossible for us to re-create the diversity and profound beauty created by millions of years of genetic mutation (or however else you choose to explain it - it's still amazing). Here's one of mine just for fun.

I shoot with a canon 300d and will be getting a g9 soon
the type of picures i take can be said to be random, i like close up abstract things, taking pictures that you have to think about asking questions like what is it? how was that done? why?
i have uploaded a couple of photos here but most of my work can be seen at www.benspics.co.uk

I tend to shoot the city (NY) in all it's glory. This is one place that just looks sexy doing nothing. Also like to shoot friends when they aren't looking or paying attention to the camera. Casual captured moments. Now I'm looking to experiment with nudes. Casual, relaxed and not so posed.

i shoot with a canon 400d and minolta x700.
my favorite subject to shoot is people, specifically people i know or don't know (matters how i'm feeling). i just think shooting people is something different than anything else. i can't really explain it but basically, i just like how capturing one moment in time of a person with another moment (say, a second after) can be two totally different photos--emotion is everything.
i feel weird posting photos on the group photos so take a look on my page.

What you shoot with is never childish^^ I shoot with my Nikon d80 and I love it. I mainly shoot alt-portraits, most of my work is influenced by my friends but lately I've had a bit of the Dorian Gray syndrome and been focusing more on myself. I think my next project will be finding out what makes me tick. I guess I need a little visual validation that I exist....

My work seems to be a little more abstract. When I was going to school, I wanted to try something different, but we all have our style, and should never change, but always try different things with it.

I love shooting photos of animals! I find it more rewarding because you can't pose them and they have this sixth sense that allows them to know exactly when that shutter opens, so they can move without being photographed.

Ahh good question, I tend to avoid taking the "generic forest" or the "generic skyline of new york".
I try to go for a more.. ehh personalized area sort of thing. Such as ridgewood, which is a mainly polish area of queens, I try to find the visual cues that when you look at it, you know where it is due to the foreign store signage or somesuch.
In addition I do a bit of the gritty work because it works well with some areas. Its all about capturing not only what you see in a picture, but what you feel.

I am obsessed with portraiture photography. I just love faces, and the stories they tell. Living in New York is of course a goldmine for interesting subjects.
Now if I can only get over my shyness in approaching people.

like someone else stated above, i share the interest in self-portrait images. i've been taking a lot of pix over the past 3 years. plus, i'm an exhibitionist.
it's wonderful creating art with one's own photography, no one else can take the credit... except myself.

I wouldn't say that asking what camera you shoot with is childish, per se, but rather just completely irrelevant. Today, SOOO many photographers are controlled by their cameras. Our focus is directed to the expensive equipment and huge lenses, and subsequently many artists are afraid to go out and shoot things because they are afraid that they will break their camera.
The type of camera one shoots with absolutely does not matter. The product is ALWAYS more valuable than the object used to create it. Little snappy disposable cameras can create absolutely stunning images, even better than expensive Nikons or Canons.
People need to go back to the work of people like Larry Clark and Nan Goldin. Who revolutionized the photography world by taking it to a personal and intimate level by introducing the confessional style of photography. Even Francesca Woodman for that matter. Equipment does not create an image. Creativity and passion do.
Sharpness and "prettyness" don't equate with a good photograph. Blur, over/underexposure, and poor composition often make some of the most compelling images i've ever seen. Look at Ryan McGinley! One of the most sought after fashion photographers and yet his "I Know Where The Summer Goes" series is a bunch of shots of his naked friends running around in awkward poses just being silly! It's what the pictures feel like! Not necessarily what they look like.
Wow, hahaha. That really all just came out. Well there's my artistic rant for the day. I'll answer the other questions another day...haha.

I thought I'd give the challenge a go with one of my latests works. I think the graffiti really adds to the feel of urban and cultural decay, don't you think?

Hmm I wouldn't really call graffiti cultural decay. It is a expression of art just like your photographic commentary of society is.

Hi. :). I'm just throwing this out there, but I think you should check out some of Bruce Davidson's work. People into urban decay usually tend to really enjoy his work. He's a Magnum photographer so you can find him there. Let me know what you think of him.

although the excessive graffiti is clearly the focal matter of this photo, I'd have to say the best compliments to them are the 2 DirectTV satellite dishes (and i capitalized that for a reason...) & the weather vane, culminating in an interesting triangular focal point as well.
