I am a self-proclaimed science nerd... Not just any science (as I just don't get physics, chemistry, etc.), but I have a strong liking for all things "environmental" (yeah, I recycle) and have roots in the field of marine biology/ecology. I've worked in the education department of an aquarium in Los Angeles as an assistant instructor and field biologist for the past five years, but I now work as the Public Programs Supervisor for the largest youth and young-adult non-profit organization in the nation. =]
Now that that's out of the way, I'm a pretty classy broad who enjoys some of life's finer things: Charles Shaw wine, water that comes in fancy bottles (because I'm all about the packaging) and catching late-night flicks on cable (you know... the ones that usually end with sexy results).
More? Okay! I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Cultural Anthropology. You're probably asking yourself, "what the hell is that all about?" Well, I fell in love with an anthropology professor (not in that way) and took every course she offered. Two years later, I found myself super proficient in eco-feminism, grassroots movement origins and the Green Revolution. I can't apply most of that to my current line of work, so I often sit back and bask in days past remembering in-depth discussions about menstruation, "the man" and womyn rights. Uh huh, I went there.
Let's see...what else? Umm...oh! I like washing my face and organizing my desk. I love to cook and bake fancy things. I think it's perfectly acceptable to eat trail mix even when you're not camping or hiking. My favorite time of the year is fall. I love the smell of dirt (or "fresh earth," if you will) and stepping on crunchy leaves. I could (and have) spend hours wandering around Target. I've recently come to the realization that I am a blubbering cry-baby, especially when it comes to sad movies and television shows. Whenever I feel down or blue, I either buy myself something to cheer me up or paint a picture. The latter is definitely more therapeutic (and cheaper). I love buying underwear, too!
In 2007, I was fortunate enough to travel around the Pacific Ocean via a 135' Tall Ship. Starting in Honolulu, I sailed to points south (Palmyra Atoll, the Equator, The Republic of Kiribati) researching the relationship between primary and secondary production in eutrophic and oligotrophic water masses (just ask). Being out at sea for 3 months of the year had is advantages, but there really is nothing like sleeping in your own bed (without the not-so-gentle rocking motion of waves caused by a squall or tropical storm)
I really enjoy getting to know new people; if we share an interest (be it music, movie, book, etc.), we'll probably get along just fine.

2008 Update: Surprisingly enough, I'd had quite a few emails asking about the "entertainer" of the year. If you remember correctly, I dubbed 2007 as the "Year of Dolly Parton". Who deserves the honor of 2008?
Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present to you the face of 2008:
Yes, if you were conceived through Charles Shaw (the blood of the Gods) we're basically related. But don't worry, not so closely related that we can't still make sweet love.
