Sorry, but I've turned off my IM function, at least for awhile. I've noticed lately that it keeps turning itself back on, and various folks are trying to IM me, even when I'm not signed in. Please don't. I'm not here much, and can't accept them. Thanks.
About Me
I am an artist and writer with a personal portfolio website at http://www.wesgreywolf.com. I've been a wanabee architect and singer/songwriter, have been in a couple of bands in the 60s and the 80s, done journalism and PR, carpentry, cabinetry and house remodeling. I've been a crazy christian fundy and a community organizer and fundraiser for HIV causes, gay rights and leather organizations. I've been a bottom and a Top, a slave and a Master, a swimmer, a skier, a surfer & beach bum, waited tables, cooked and washed dishes, and I even helped manage a church rectory in college. I've been a bathhouse-maven-whoreslut and a safe sex lecturer, been a profligate wanker and chastity device aficionado, and even a crafter of metal sex toys. I am still all of those things. And I still love every man I've ever been in love with, especially the man I have been partnered with for more than five years now. Yes, I understand that sentiment is corny. Well, there it is.
My Blogs
I have several other blogs and key profiles besides "wet speedos on the brain," which feeds in the blog space below. [ Wet Speedos on the Brain) ]
This is the largest playlist I've posted yet, all collected from different profiles here on DList. You guys have some wonderful taste, I will tell you.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY NEW WORLD
Heard this on Indie 103.1 FM while in LA at Christmas, and thought it was just brilliant...and so TOPICAL! The Black and White Years: "Power to Change."
One of their new singles, "Ulysses," from their new Album Tonight, which will be released 01-26-09.
Here's another single from Franz Ferdinand, a cover of "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem, who will be releasing this along with their own version as a double single soon. Here's the skinny on this release (where you can also download the mp3): Click here. Sounds very much like the Strokes in a way.
Here Comes the New Wall of Sound
Unless you listen to Oldies Radio, you might not know much about Phil Spector, the Ronnettes, the Supremes and dozens of other (mostly) girl groups from the early Sixties who filled the airwaves on old AM radio with deliciously hooky songs.
Well, now you can get an accurate feeling of what those years were like with one album from Sharleen Spiteri, the former lead singer of hit Scottish band Texas. Sharleen has a new album out this month called Melody.
And of course there's always Hard-Fi...
My sister told me last night she may be getting a divorce. Not only that, but my mom's best friend is in the same fix, and two of my sister's best friends are suddenly also facing marital troubles. Good grief. What on earth is going on. Elbow has a song for just such occasions, "Grounds for Divorce." Oy.
Estelle was just on Graham Norton following a bang-up hysterical visit by Robin Williams, and she did this song, which just knocked me over. So here is, "Come Over."
We'll see how long it lasts. I've already received my first comment about the annoying pop-up windows on Nibblebit, that even my browser's pop-up blocker can't seem to block. As if that's not a reason to question the desirability of remaining there, another reader called into question Nibblebit's reliability, reminding me that the whole reason the blog died there almost as soon as it was loaded was a massive server failure at Nibblebit.
So, we'll see. Thanks for your input, everyone.
Hmmmmm... A Nibblebit Update (1/18/10) [View | Hide]
It seems that Nibblebit had a server failure in November, and it caused some havoc with restoring the various blogs domiciled on their servers. I've put in for a restoration of Wet Speedos on the Brain 3. I will let you all know if it can be.
Meanwhile, I've also noticed that a few things have stabilized in the Blogger world. A huge number of gay blogs remain shuttered by Blogger (http://googlebloggerclosesgayblogs.blogspot.com). But I might just keep this one going here anyway.
My life has become very hectic with personal matters, so I've not been able to give blogging any attention in recent months. I appreciate that all of you who follow this blog have hung on and stuck with it. My special thanks to one Canadian follower who has generously assisted in sorting out the Nibblebit issues.
Just got a comment from a reader that the new Nibblebit site has disappeared. This is apparently true. i just discovered it over the Thanksgiving holidays. It seems I had not given the Nibblebit version of Wet Speedos enough attention, so they wiped it, and I have to start all over again there.
I've been trying to decide what to do, and as this blog is still here (fingers crossed), I've got perhaps a little time to decide. I've had a LOT to do other than blog lately. It's not been my first, second or third priority. Apologies to you all. I will try to do something about this as soon as possible, certainly this month in any case.
Thank you all for your continued readership and support.
I am abandoning Blogger, since they appear to have no loyalty to gay bloggers who have made a home at Blogger and Google for many years. In the past two weeks I have watched numerous wonderful blogs vanish with no warning. So, even though Wet Speedos is not and never has been an adult site (although some people continue to blanch at the thought of a hot butt in wet blue lycra), I am taking no chances.
I have no intention of allowing Google to arbitrarily wipe away two years of work for no reason. And there is a matter of loyalty to friends and blogging colleagues to consider.
So, to all of you who are still on Blogger, I say enough is enough. Toss ‘em overboard. They would do the same to you without thinking. Besides, I like Nibblebits’ WordPress functions. They're pretty sophisticated.
If you have any doubts about what I'm saying, take a look at this new blog dedicated to following what Google has been up to recently: http://googlebloggerclosesgayblogs.blogspot.com. I think you will be as shocked as I was, and still am.
If you decide you want to stay with Google and Blogger, take the advice of this blogger over at MyDigitalLife.com, and remove your top banner bar on your blog -- as I have here. This banner bar contains the "flag" function that appears to have caused so much consternation for so many gay Blogger bloggers lately. Apparently, someone, or some group, with an "agenda" has been repeatedly flagging gay blogs to disrupt our fun, and Google has been falling for the trick.
So, farewell Blogger, hello Nibblebit.com. Thank you loyal readers. Please follow Wet Speedos to it's new home.
Aussielicious has a cute bit about Sydney's gay water polo team, known as the Stingers. The Stingers are taking sign-ups to give away tickets to the Sydney Mardi Gras. Yeah, I do wish I could go. Always have wanted to. Sign up at their website: http://www.sydneystingers.org.au/.
All of these amazing last few photos this morning come from one Flickr poster: SpeedoPhoto, and there are dozens more images there I've never seen before of college swimmers and divers. Very, very beautiful.
I have been listening to your playlist all morning.
Plant grapes. I have about eight acres of grapes and they are the best crop! And I make my own wine...
