- so i think i've become a little bit racist against indian men (2/8/10) [View | Hide]

Let's be controversial!
For a long time I've had this impression of Indian men as appearing kindof silly. I guess this mostly comes from the way many of them look; the clothes, the hair, the mustaches, etc. Not very graceful in general :P I realise all that stuff is just based of my preferences and opinions of what is graceful, but lately I've been seeing things that make wonder if they are silly on the inside as well. Last night I was watching a documentary about the traffic problems in Mumbai (link: HERE. i think it should work in most countries), and every single Indian man in it comes off as an idiot. One of the people followed around was the vice president of the traffic authorities of Mumbai I think, and he really reminded me of the main character of District 9. If you have seen that movie, you know what kind of idiot I mean. And every single man who was of lesser rank than him seemed even more of an idiot. Now this is just one documentary, but it's not the first thing I see that gives this impression.
So now I'm curious! I know there is at least one person reading this blog that is living in India. and I'm sure there are others that have interesting perspectives too. All kinds of minorities experience that just a certain image of them is portrayed in the media, so this could be like that. Enlighten me!
note: even if there is truth to my impression, i'm not sure if it qualifies as 'racist'. biologically we are all equal. what happens after birth is a different thing though.
another note: let's take generalization for what it is. of course it will not apply to everyone, but that doesn't mean it can't be true in general, or even just more cases than usual

- so we did a pancake party (2/5/10) [View | Hide]

I think normally the day for crepes is February 2nd, but 4th works too. :)
It got quite crowdy for a while, but it was really nice. Yummy pancakes! ^__^
The cable guy stopped by earlier in the day to install the new internet stuff, but for some reason it didn't work. In the end we just decided to say fuck off to those guys, and just go with Free instead. We had trouble with them before, but at least they already have a good system in the building. It's actually enabled for fiber optic already, but they didn't figure it out yet with their servers or something. Anyway, the story continues;..
|
- so who watched lost? (2/4/10) [View | Hide]

The last season has started! It's one of my favorite shows, so naturally I'm excited :P
I was actually not that much into the opening episodes. I enjoyed, but nothing made me go go OMG hairs on arms standing up etc. I guess seeing all the dead characters return should have made me excited, but it didn't really. Seeing the temple was cool, but it wasn't a wow moment for me either.
The Juliette death scene was super cheesy and bad. "Kiss me!". lol
And some of the other lines were a little bit ridiculous too, or maybe it was just bad acting. Like when Jin runs to fetch Jack for Sayid, or when the air hostess is recognizing them at the temple.
Hurley was great though! ♥
And I forgot how hot Miles is. I love his lips lol ♥♥
I think the coolest and most interesting thing now is the thing going on with Jacob's rival/the smoke monster. Oh and I'm curious about the island being underwater in the non crash reality too.
(oh and i totally knew sayid wasn't dead. if he was dead they would have done sad music scene.)

- so let's rant a little bit about france (2/2/10) [View | Hide]

OK first just let me say that despite of this and that, I really love living here. In a way it's all part of the French "charm". I am certainly not going to spend any energy trying to change anything :P
I think France must really be the world champion of ineffective administration and bureaucracy. Government workers are all unable to be fired, and the fact that they obviously don't care about doing their job or helping you is so obvious you don't know if you want to laugh or cry. They are also the world champions of going on strike. I don't really get to feel the stress of all this that much as my life is not that linked with it all anyway. But Sam is French, and every time there is something to do with tax, bills, health care or whatever, there are all these ridiculous unnecessary obstacles.
I've had some bank issues lately, and....ugh... I swear it is like they are stuck in the middle ages. I had never seen a check before until I came here. I thought they were something from 80's movies lol. I think I was 14 or 15 years old when I got my first bank account with a card I could use, and even when I first got it I remember that using the internet for your bank stuff was already normal. So that's 10 years ago. Here, there is still practically nothing like that. There was a brochure in my French bank now to let people know that there was a new thing were you could go online and handle things. Great, finally, right? Except not really :P What you can do is go online and then get something to print that you can then put in an envelope and send to your bank. Sam says it's because French people have distrust in internet security, and there are regulations to prevent activity with dirty money. It's so stupid though! In Norway (and Sweden, I used to live there too) they actually make you pay an extra fee if you turn up to the bank to handle your bank affairs. They want you to do it online; it is cheaper for them!
The phone companies are really shit too. The fiber optic stuff we were supposed to get this week, turned out to be just regular cable at first, as they didn't install the cable in the building yet. I don't really mind that much, as long as we can get a decent connection again (the one now is terrible), but it's shit that they are trying to deceive people like this. And costumer service...OMG. The companies make you pay a lot to use their costumer service lines, and it is so obvious that the employees get rewarded to keep you on the line for as long as possible. They lie to you to keep you around as a costumer for another week, and when you call again they pretend like the last conversation "must have been some mistake" or whatever else. It's a nightmare every time. This new company actually has a shop not far from our place though, so if there is any problems you can actually go and talk to a person face to face.
That's France! :P

- so i have a confession (2/1/10) [View | Hide]

Sam had to wear a suit for a casting today :P
Anyway, my confession... I haven't used dental floss since I was a little kid!
Well I decided it was time to start doing that again, but it is difficult! lol. It kindof hurts when i wrap the string around my finger and it tightens, and I'm not really sure how to best go about the flossing. Does anyone have have some dental floss advice for me?
|
- so the view is nice today (1/31/10) [View | Hide]

I don't know if any of you remember, but the window to the right used to be almost covered witht he Hawaiian plant. We cut it down and replanted it along the wall instead, and now the view is really more impressive. Washing the windows helped too :P
|
- so let's get topless in the kitchen (1/30/10) [View | Hide]

Model: S e c r e t and m y s t e r i o u s
This is starting to feel a bit much like Avatar, except Navii don't have dirty dishes lying around.
Our internet has been super duper slow for the last couple of months, but it seems we will maybe finally get it fixed now. First we just wanted to change provider, but it seems they have enabled the ultra fast fiber optic cable stuff in our tower. So maybe we'll get that! Sam is down at their little shop thing now.
|
- so rohman is here (1/26/10) [View | Hide]

That's him to the left. He normally lives in Normandie, but he is doing this internship thing in Paris now so he is staying with us for the next...3 weeks? Something like that. Really sweet guy!
|
- so i've been working out again (1/25/10) [View | Hide]

Doing relatively well so far. I'm still in terrible shape, but I've been doing it 6 days a week all month.
Push-ups are so hard for me though. My arms are super weak!
It's been fueling my apetite a lot too, and I can't seem to stop eating.
|
- so it was one of those days (1/23/10) [View | Hide]

I couldn't really seem to shake the stress from my body today. Partly because some stupid stuff with my bank and other things, but I mostly just blame the weather. January sucks.
I'm all ready for February to come.
With a cutie for Valentine's day!
|
- so it is fashion week! again! (1/22/10) [View | Hide]

I went to see the Galliano show with Sam and Lolo. Less photos this time, because I was hanging out backstage before the show too long, and then I had trouble finding a good spot to shoot from when I came back out. Also, this blue light is not really easy for the camera...
And apparantly I was standing around next to Chris Brown and Kanye West, but I didn't even seen them lol. Too confused!

|
- so we put some blue lamps in the kitchen (1/21/10) [View | Hide]

We admit it is not so practical, but it looks VERY COOL.
Also, one of the bottles of cleaning product suddenly looks amazing.

|
- so i don't think i ever received this many comments before (1/18/10) [View | Hide]

Every time I made one of those posts I would wonder if anybody would reply at all, and every time I have gotten surprised at how many I got. You guys are SO COOL. I love that you are so diverse too. A NASA engineer! A furry! Really, thank you again. I wasn't just saying it when I told you I would appreciate it.
And waaah what a boost for my ego. I was just curious about you was out there, but then everyone kept saying nice things. Blush!
Feel free to leave comments in the future too, but no worries if you don't. I rarely comment on other people's journals anymore either. And I know I can be slow to reply sometimes. I get to it in the end though :)
|
- so tell me who you are! (1/16/10) [View | Hide]

I have done this before, but it has been a long time now I think.
Basically what I would love is if those of you who normally don't comment, wrote a reply here to say you are there and a little bit about who you are. I'd love that! Like who are you, where do you live, maybe include a photo too? If you are under the impression that I don't know about you, then you are who I mean right now :) You don't need a livejournal account to comment, so please please. I would really appreciate ^_^
Actually twitter followers too... I'll post a link to this there.
(the photo is of me and my friend shyahir, taken by tommy)
edit: omg this is so great! keep posting you guys!
|
- so just a few photos from back home (1/14/10) [View | Hide]

I spent 10 days there this time, but it went by fast anyway. Certain days have certain holiday traditions and then after all the time goes by to see friends that I only get to spend time with whenever I am in Trondheim. It's weird how time seems to fly when you only get updates on people once or twice a year. This one getting married, that one moving to Guatemala etc etc. Anyway, it is always nice to get back together again and feel that we still enjoy eachother's company.
Always great to see my family too. I have a really nice family. My sis is doing the first year of high school now, and my brother just moved into a flat with some friends. My mother is still having the story of this and that after her fall last winter, but at least she can walk mostly alright now.
Don't know when I will go back next time. Summer maybe :)

|
- so i meant to do this sooner, but then new ones kept arriving (1/13/10) [View | Hide]

Thanks to those of you who sent me Christmas cards! So nice!
I really enjoy getting them, even when they are from people I'm not sure who are. And woo hoo for even sending me home made chocolates. Again!
I know there is at least one card missing here, and maybe there are more. It could be because I am a messy person, but it could be the postal system as well. There has been some stuff never arriving in the past... Anyways, if some new ones turn up, I will say it.

I've been watching through most of Wong Kar Wai's films this last week and a half. They really are so so good. My favorite is "In the mood for love", but also "Chungking Express", "Fallen Angels" and "Happy Together".

- so i have a NEW LAYOUT! (1/7/10) [View | Hide]

I am so happy!
\o/
I've said it before here that I didn't like how the background color on livejournal is white by default. It is a terrible color for viewing photos on, making all the darker shades mix into eachother. Well now it's fixed! And it is just how I want it. I'm so grateful to my friend Matt in London who helped me out with this. He is really sweet and really talented. Thank you! ♥
If you have time, feel free to go back and look at my older entries. My photos really come out differently in this format.
|
- so here's jireh (1/3/10) [View | Hide]

He was in Paris all Christmas, but we only got to hang out a little bit because I was going to Norway. It was nice though!
I also have a video of him climbing naked on a pole (not that kind of pole!), but that one will remain in the secret archives :P

edit: btw thanks for the christmas cards! i'll post more about them later)

- so here is the year in review, q&a edition (12/31/09) [View | Hide]

I had a great Xmas in Norway! Check out what Sam gave me ^^. I'm back in Paris now, and just having a quiet New Years Eve.
I'm doing the new year question thingy again, like before. Check it out below if you want (won't blame you if you don't).
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before? I had a space cake in Amsterdam.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No I didn't. Will try again!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What countries did you visit? France, Norway, Germany, Japan, England and Netherlands. I think that's all...
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? More muscles :P
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I don't know, I can't think of something that stands out.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Hmmm. My work for iLOOK? I'm not big on achievements (or goals for that matter)
9. What was your biggest failure? Learning French better I suppose.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Just minor stuff, but kindof a lot of it.
11. What was the best thing you bought? I love my iPhone ^^
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Tim! Tim in Florida.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Israel, and their Gaza campaign last winter.
14. Where did most of your money go? Bills. So boring :P
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My camera!
16. What song will always remind you of this year? Black Eyed Peas - I've Got A Feeling
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? the same b) thinner or fatter? the same c) richer or poorer? the same!
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Everything.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastinating.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? I was with my family in Norway.
21. What was your favorite TV program? This year? I guess LOST. I still love that show.
22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No...
23. What was the best book you read? The newest Wheel of Time book! The Gathering Storm.
24. What was your greatest musical discovery? Shit I don't know. I'm looking at my playlist now and nothing stands out.
25. What did you want and get? New photography equipment.
26. What did you want and not get? Real change with the stock market laws and all that mess.
27. What was your favorite film of this year? Where The Wild Things Are. Oh and Slumdog Millionaire, that was still 2009 right?
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I got 25. I had dinner with my closest friends here in Paris. Perfect! I love them very much.
29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? More income I suppose :P
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? NUDITY
31. What kept you sane? Too late for that ;)
32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I used to think that werewolf boy in Twilight was so sexy, but now I can't stop thinking his face looks so "scrunched". So I don't know... Rain, that Korean hottie.
33. What political issue stirred you the most? Israel's campaign in Gaza last winter.
34. Who did you miss? Jun!
35. Who was the best new person you met? I don't know.Several :)
36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009. Careful not to step on the big glass plate!
37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. "Get it on, get it on! Get it on, get it on, get it on!" - Turbonegro
Happy New Year everyone! \o/
|
- so let's do some christmas! (12/18/09) [View | Hide]

Tomorrow I fly home to Trondheim to spend Christmas with my family and friends there. I'll bring my laptop, but I'm never really sure what internet situation awaits in that house. I'm sure I will make at least one or two updates.
Let's enjoy! \o/
(p.s. can you tell i had a fun morning?)
|
- so here is the year in review, image edition (12/17/09) [View | Hide]

I had such a nice and cozy day. Snow outside and me hiding inside doing this and that.
Posts don't get much more egocentric than this I suppose. As all the photos on here are usually by myself, you don't see many with me in them. Just as well, right? :P
Anyways, it's my blog! So I'm putting up a bunch of photos my friends have taken of me during 2009. Check them out below if you want, won't blame you if you don't ;)
Good friends, good year!

- so i have a few more shots of coma (12/16/09) [View | Hide]

I went to see Where the Wild Things Are today, and I loved it. I don't think I ever saw a movie that made me remember how it felt to be a kid in this way. The images were beautiful, and the main actor was great.
These photos should really be viewed on a dark background, but this will have to do for now :)

|
- so we have a real xmas tree this year! (12/14/09) [View | Hide]

I like it! And then we finally got a purpose for all those Swarovski crystals lying around. They look really nice in between the lights, especially when they move.
Yesterday I went with Lolo, Miki and her husband to see Madame Oshima in the Marais. She had invited us for tea at her workshop there. I had seen photos of her dolls online before, but wow they are amazing. Especially the portraits of her daughter (who was there as well). She makes these incredibly detailed puppets from fabric. Last time we saw her she said the larger ones take 6 months to complete! And she is so sweet as well. There's an article about her here if you want to know more: Kayuzo Oshima
&& here are a few more snaps of our wonderful tree :)

|
- so here is coma again (12/9/09) [View | Hide]

I downloaded Google Chrome for mac, and it really is faster. I miss instantly being able to search in different search engines, but the keyword system in Chrome is not bad either I suppose :)
I took these shots a few weeks ago when Coma was here in Paris. Hope you like!
