- OAK vs. BBlessing vs. Seven New York () [View | Hide]
|
How do you orchestrate an EPIC sample sale? You bring together 3 of New York City's quintessential, forward-thinking shopping destinations (OAK, BBlessing, and Seven NY) and discount everything from 70-90% for 3 days. Convinced yet?
The Warehouse/Sample sale begins this Friday, November 20. However, the first day will be a private Friends and Family sale (Anyone know the password?). The public has a full 2 days to pillage the remaining goods. We're sure you can already imagine the plethora of labels that you may expect, so don't miss this one!
Our advice, come early (space is limited) and be sure hit up that ATM (cash only). Black Friday could not have come any earlier.
Nouveau PR Presents: Seven NY vs BBlessing vs OAK Nouveau PR (150 Spring St., #3, New York, NY 10012; tel. 646.861.1976) When November 21st & 22nd, 2009 @ 12PM-8PM Notes Cash Only

Last night, Paul Berardi and Eddy Chai of Odin debuted their latest in-house series of fragrances—Odin EDT—at an intimate gathering at the Hotel Griffou. The series, developed alongside perfumers Kevin Verspoor and Pierre-Constantin Guéros, is composed of 3 distinct scents: Nomad, Owari, and Legacy. Although each scent strikes a different chord with the olfactory system, they all seem to converge upon a common thread that describes the wearer: a man who is thought-provoking, serene, and esoteric.
Scent 02, Owari, was one of the 3 scents given out that evening. We really enjoyed the vibrant, refreshing character of the Mandarin and Bergamot, which wears away quite nicely into warm middle and bottom notes of Cubeb Pepper, Neroli, and Cedarwood. The packaging and design is also very handsome.
Each square bottle is topped with a weighted soft-touch cap and housed within a sturdy box with sliding drawer with a grosgrain pull tab. When back lit, the inherent transparency of the bottles reveal the beautiful amber hue of the scent itself. Each fragrance retails for $110 and is available at Odin boutiques.

Dear HOMMEBOY.net Readers,
We thank you greatly for being there for us this entire time. While we at HOMMEBOY.net have noticed a small shift downward in presence, we wanted to let you know that we're still around. Although there has been a lack of action going on, the collective that has been behind HOMMEBOY.net—including myself—have been undergoing side projects to which have been taking up majority of our free time—this may or may not include design projects, photo shoots, etc.
While it has been our main goal to bring you the latest and greatest in everything menswear, allow us to fulfill our primary needs until we are able to bring you back into gear with the newest.
Gradually within the next few months, new things will be revealed, new sections will be developed, and a larger staff will be accumulated. Until then, we hope you are still fond of occasional updates, our legacy archive, and mobile updates.
Thank You

- Bess Looks West () [View | Hide]
|
New York cult label, Bess, has achieved this season what some designers have not been able to do. The aim was not to makes clothes that only appear to be well-worn on the surface, but to create clothes that are familiar, like things you've kept around in your closet and have worn all your life. For Spring/Summer 2010, texture and color derived from the seasonal rebirth of the Western American landscape create the foundation for this emotional collection. "It's about the color of sand and earth, the feeling of cloth that emphasizes its origin in the skin of the animal and the deep color of raw dyed silk by hand," says designer Doug Abraham. "Copper metals and shapes that move in the wind and are luminous in the heat of the sun." There's a sense of old-Western nostalgia (In The Badlands, the title of the collection) the was exemplified with poncho and the leather pants, but juxtaposed with the modernity of a "well-traveled", off-white suit. The studs remain a staple in the collection but has become less and less the key element as with prior collections. Rather this time, it's the raw and unprocessed nature of the materials that give the clothes life. For Bess, it's never about the new or cutting-edge. It's about making the old, new again. "Clothes are meant to be work hard and exhibit the decay of something that has been loved."
