Bio

Matthew Frost's unforgettable voice is quite unexpected of a rocker, but very refreshing in the current cookie-cutter industry. Originally trained as a classical and opera singer, he's able to deliver an incredible range with a powerful punch. Refusing to use synthetic instrumentals and vocals, he's going back to the way Rock music was meant to be made and most importantly, heard.

Growing up in a small town in Northern Virginia, Matthew always saw big cities like New York, D.C., and Philly just out of his reach but was determined to make things happen. Coming from a family with very little money and 11 siblings, he knew it would be a challenge to pursue his true passion. Although he suffers from severe hearing loss from complications at birth, he grew up with music all around him. Matthew's mother, father, several uncles and grandparents had all been aspiring musicians at one point or another. At the age of 5, Matthew was already listening to artists ranging from The Beatles to The Animals, Elton John to The Grateful Dead, and even Nat King Cole and Madonna. He enjoyed the way the different types of music moved him and kept wanting more.

By age 9, Matthew picked up his first violin and from there would go on to learn piano as well. Both instruments gave him an appreciation for classical music and taught him how songs were built and how he could ultimately tear them apart in order to orchestrate his own sound. Almost by accident, Matthew joined his school choir at age 14 and discovered his voice. His instructor was astonished to learn that he'd never sang a note in his life other than during his early morning showers. She advised him to press on with singing, hire a vocal coach and start turning his poetry into music. Matthew did just that and then some, and finally found his true calling.

Throughout school, Matthew was determined to move on to bigger and better things, but he was dealt much different cards than anticipated. In 1998 a series of events would change Matthew's life and ultimately put a chilling and vast amount of emotion in every word that he sang. The year began with his father being incarcerated for a sentence of several years and as the year went on, the news of his oldest sister being killed in a car accident and his mother being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis amongst other debilitating diseases was delivered. Needless to say, music had to be put on hold in order for him to take care of himself and his family.

By 2006, Matthew had a handful of original material but no one in Virginia to help him turn his dreams into reality. His only choice - move to New York City. With only a few weeks of planning, he packed his bags and headed to the big apple to make a name for himself. After several months of struggles, trial and error in the monstrous city, he finally found his producer and fellow musician, Daniel Jakubovic. Over the last year and a half, Matthew and Daniel have created and pieced together what some are calling, "music that will stand the test of time". Daniel introduced Matthew to an edgier side of Rock while Matthew infused his knowledge and background of a vast array of other genres of music. Together, you get an incredible team who are sure to deliver sensational tunes.

With his upcoming album, "Pieces On The Floor," Matthew wanted to take listeners through his long journey thus far. Says Matthew, "I wanted to share all different parts of my life ranging from love to hardships, fantasies to realities, and everything in between. I wanted to expose myself for everyone to see, and let them know that they're not alone."

Thanks for checking out this on the rise artist, Matthew Frost, and check back often for information about upcoming shows and the album release later this year. "Take care of yourselves and don't forget to live your life." -Matthew Frost
